You can go on holidays with friends or to make them!

Let's face it... some places in the world are just gayer than others. Taking a holiday to one of the world's many gay travel destinations can be a way of meeting similar people and relaxing in a place where your sexuality is share by those around you.

Getting Perspective.

If you are finding it difficult to get perspective or to feel good about yourself, meeting with a counsellor and talking to other gay people on the internet are just a couple of the things you can do. Sometimes it can help to get away and go somewhere where the attitude to gay people is completely different to what you are familiar with.

Taking a Break.

The gay holiday market is huge and specialist travel agencies can help you organise a holiday if you want to go somewhere else to meet other gay people. Some people prefer to go on holiday with a friend but sometimes if you go on your own it can be easier to make friends.

According to our readers, some of the best gay holiday destinations (in no particular order) are:

  • Aspen Gay Ski Week, Colorado, US
  • Fire Island, New York, US
  • Key West, Florida, US
  • Ibiza, Spain
  • Sitges, Spain
  • Gran Canaria, Canary Islands/ Spain
  • Mykonos, Greece
  • Pattaya, Thailand
  • Patong Beach, Phuket, Thailand
  • Cairns, Australia
  • Byron Bay, Australia
  • Sydney, Australia

Gay cruises are also very popular. Atlantis (a US company) and All Gay Cruises (an Australian company) both specialise in gay cruises. You can find out more about gay cruises by searching for them on the internet.

Local trips and short breaks.

Package tours and well known gay destinations are not the only option of course. If you can find some friends, gay or straight, who are prepared to take a short break, a change of scene can be as good as a holiday! For example, you might decide to stay a night in another city and visit the local gay cafes or bars. It can be exciting to be in another town, particularly if you feel more free there than in your own neighbourhood.

Some of the members of the social gay websites organise short holidays, day trips or outings.
